Mary Kathryn "Kathy" Burk, 63, of Pioneer Road, Franklin, died at 8:53 a.m. Thursday at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born Nov. 3, 1945, in Portersville, she was the daughter of John Oscar Parson and Mary Bauder Parson.

She was a 1963 graduate of Slippery Rock High School and had graduated in the top 10 percent of her class with honors.

Mrs. Burk had been a cashier at Kmart and prior to that had been an office manager at the Crossroads Restaurant in Barkeyville.

She enjoyed her pets, her family and the outdoors.

She is survived by her former husband, Frank K. Burk, of Mercer; two sons, Frank Joseph "Joe" Burk and John K. Burk, both of Mercer; a daughter, Jodi Antus of Franklin; a sister, Judy Beachem of Slippery Rock; three grandchildren, Chelsey Antus of Franklin and Stephanie Burk and Samantha Burk, both of Mercer; and a former daughter-in-law, Vina Burk of Mercer. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

<B>BURK</B> — Friends and family of Mary Kathryn "Kathy" Burk, who died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, will be received from 11 a.m. to noon at the <B>SMITHFUNERALHOME</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, with the service following at noon. Interment will be at the Portersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Portersville.
