Jane E. Preston
Jane E. Preston, 96, of South Eberhart Road, Butler, died at 12:40 p.m. Friday at her home.
Born Nov. 20, 1911, in Toledo, Ohio, she was the daughter of John and Ella Thompson Hupman.
Mrs. Preston was an office manager for Preston Laboratories and also was a well-known philanthropist in the area.
She graduated from La Salle Junior College and Northwestern University. She was a member of the AAUW and the Butler Garden Club.
Mrs. Preston was the founder of the Butler Natural Food Group and Freedom of Choice Group. She was a champion of organic foods and their gardening, and she was a popular speaker on organic dieting. Mrs. Preston was a major supporter of various charities in Butler County.
Mrs. Preston is survived by a niece, Ann Kaczor of Troy, Mich., and a nephew, John Hupman of Sterling Heights, Mich.
Mrs. Preston was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Frank W. Preston, and by a brother.
