Richard L. Claypoole
Richard L. Claypoole, 71, of a 44-year resident of 613 Princeton St., Grove City, died at 10 a.m. Sunday at his home after an extended illness.
Born in Clay Township, July 9, 1937, he was the son of Gilbert "G.Y." Claypoole and Daisy Pisor Claypoole.
He retired in 1998 from Cooper Energy Services, where he was a coremaker for 36 years.
Mr. Claypoole was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grove City.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing. trapping and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He especially enjoyed his dog, Pooh.
Surviving are his wife, Melinda O. Boofer Claypoole, whom he married June 28, 1957; two children, Dennis L. Claypoole Sr. and his wife, Brenda. of Slippery Rock and Karen L. Daugherty-Lawson and her husband, Steve, of Oil City; five sisters, Mary Sutton of Butler, Elsie Jordan of Jackson Center, Helen Artman and Polly Stoughton, both of Chicora, and Nellie Shields and her husband, James, of Slippery Rock; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Morian Claypoole; a half-brother, Lester Claypoole; and two half -sisters, Mabel Cloverdale and Gladys Barnes.
<B>CLAYPOOLE</B> — Friends of Richard L. Claypoole, who died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the <B>Cunningham Funeral Home Inc.</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Johnson, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Grove City, officiating. Burial will be at Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township, Mercer County.
