Kenneth M. McElroy
Kenneth M. McElroy, 60, of Butler passed away Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born June 2, 1948, in Louisville, Ky., he was the son of the late C.C. and Kay Hall McElroy.
Ken was an accomplished woodworker, a proficient story teller and joke aficionado. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at Lake Arrowhead in Wisconsin. He also was a "master barbecuer."
Ken attended Indiana State University.
He started his newspaper career at Thomson Newspapers, where he was employed for 30 years. Working at the New Albany Tribune in Indiana, he then went on to a stellar career that included positions as director of advertising, corporate consultant, corporate trainer and vice president of national advertising for Thomson.
After leaving Thomson, he served for six years as director of advertising at the Kenosha News in Kenosha, Wis.
On April 9, 2007, he came to Butler as director of advertising at the Butler Eagle.
He was a Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Uhl McElroy, who he married Aug. 7, 1970; two sisters, Sharon McElroy of Borden, Ind., and Mrs. Carolyn Heishman and her husband, Dave, of Georgetown, Ind.; three nieces, Mrs. Christi Steller and her husband, Rob, of Louisville, Ky., Leah Armfield of New Albany, Ind., and Mrs. Christy Love and her husband, Jeff, of Indianapolis, Ind.; and a nephew, Brian Newton and his wife, Sarah, of Indianapolis, Ind. He also is survived by three grandnephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Bradford, Ind.
