Gene A. Callender

Gene A. Callender, 69, of Parker died at 10 p.m. Monday at his home of natural causes.

Born Jan. 21, 1939, in Toby Township, Clarion County, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Margaret Brothers Callender.

He had been employed by Asplundh Tree Service, C&K Coal Co., and Glacial Minerals.

Gene was affiliated with Bell Chapel Memorial Wesleyan Church at Boyers.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen Gold and her husband, Jeffrey, of Butler and Karen E. "Kay-Cee" Schiberl of Emlenton; a son, Donald G. Callender and his wife, Annabelle, of Parker; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd "Jim" Callender of West Freedom and Glenn R. Callender of Clarion; and a number of nieces and nephews.

His wife, Thelmas M. Travis Callender, who he married Dec. 3, 1957, died April 2, 2007. He also was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Marshall Gold; two daughters, Diane M. Burk and Ruth Ann Callander; two sons, Gary and Randy Callander; three brothers; and two sisters.

<B>CALLENDER </B>— Friends of Gene A. Callender, who died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home</B>, Wayne Street, Parker. Services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Private burial will be held later at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Dutch Hill.
