Julia Bemben, 88, of Highfield Road, Butler, died early Saturday.

Born Nov. 29, 1919, in Lyndora, she was the daughter of Wasyl and Pelagia Sinawski Yasinsky.

She worked at the Pullman-Standard Car Co. in Butler during World War II. She later returned to Pullman and worked there until the company closed.

She was a homemaker and mother, and she was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora.

Her husband, Carl S. Bemben Sr., who she married June 1, 1941, preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1976.

Surviving are a son, Carl S. "Butch" Bemben Jr., of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Peter, Michael, Steve, and Joseph Yasinsky; and two sisters, Helen Oluschak and Margaret Bonyak.

<B>BEMBEN</B> ¿ Friends of Julia Bemben, who died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery.The Bereavement Committee of St. Fidelis Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home for a parish vigil service.Information is at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
