Danielle R. Wick, 6, of Rittswood Drive died Saturday at her home.

Danielle was born in Austin, Texas, Oct. 23, 2001.

In January 2003 at 15 months old, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She received treatment at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., and was blessed to live several years of excellent health.

Three years ago, the summer before her fourth birthday, she moved to Butler with her parents, A. Christopher and Bobbie R. (Brown) Wick to live close to her grandparents, Robert L. and Marsha R. (Criley) Brown of Chicora and George L. and Susan B. (Birdseye) Wick of Ford City.

As a preschooler, Danielle was enrolled at Penn Christian Academy, 2005-2007. Upon the diagnoses of a secondary brain tumor on April 1, 2008, she had been attending much loved kindergarten at Center Township Elementary.

Danielle was a very sweet, kind spirited, compassionate and fun loving child. With her long golden curls, beautiful smile and fun personality, she had a special way of capturing the hearts of all those who surrounded her.

She loved her first year of school and truly looked forward to each day in Mrs. Patty Konieczny's class. During the school year, she enjoyed ballet and tap dancing classes at the Butler Dance & Gym USA. She also participated in the swimming, gymnastics and cheerleading activities at the Butler County Family YMCA.

Memories of her song and dance performances she put on for special occasions at home will be cherished forever. During the summer time, Danielle especially enjoyed boating, swimming and camping. It was often joked she was part mermaid. She had a special fondness for her cat "Orangie," who really helped get her through struggles during her illness.

She is survived by her best friend, playmate and brother, Ryan C. Wick, 5; maternal and paternal grandparents listed above; great-grandmother, Nora M. Lees of Murrysville; great-grandmother M. Sally Criley of Fenelton; several aunts and uncles including Christopher and Kathryn Boltz of Phoenix, Ariz., Jennifer and Robert McCauley of State College, Elizabeth and Robert Slease of Roanoke, Va., and Robbie Zabicki of Butler; and three cousins.

<B>WICK</B> — Friend and family of Danielle R. Wick, who died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME</B>. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the North Main Street Church of God with Lane Turturice officiating.
