12:13 p.m. Thursday — Someone overnight cut the power cords off six used appliances outside the building that houses J&T Appliances on Spring Street.11:32 a.m. Wednesday — No one was injured in a six-vehicle, chain-reaction accident on West Cunningham Street.Joseph Weber, 76, of Lyndora told police that he was having difficulty putting his sport utility vehicle into gear when he struck a car in front of him. That car driven by Mildred Zier, 42, of Summit Township, was pushed into the back of car driven by Sherry Isovitch, 65, of Butler, which was pushed into the rear of a car driven by Mary Zaliszczuk, 55, of Carnegie.Weber's vehicle, meanwhile, went into reverse and backed into the front of a car driven by Patricia Snyder, 45, of Chicora, which in turn was pushed back and into the front of an SUV driven by Edward Abzanka, 50, of Cranberry Township.10:30 a.m. Tuesday — A16-year-old Saxonburg girl is accused of shoplifting $239 in merchandise, including clothing, jewelry and cosmetics, at the Kmart store, Pullman Square. Police did not identify the girl, who is charged in juvenile court with retail theft.Sunday — More than $2,300 in property, including about 100 DVDs, a SonyPlayStation 2 game console and a bottle of prescription drugs, was stolen in a burglary between 1:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday at a West Birch Street apartment.11:46 p.m. Saturday — Mark A. Fredenburg Jr., 48, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence on Hansen Avenue. Police said he also was cited for driving without headlights.Saturday — Aaron Arnold told police that someone broke into his West New Castle Street apartment and slashed and cut up his furniture. No property, however, was taken. Police estimated damage at $400.
1:24 p.m. Thursday — Apickup truck driven by Michael Butera, 22, of Wampum, Lawrence County, struck the rear of a car at Route 68 and Constitution Avenue in Connoquenessing. The collision pushed the car, driven by Ashley Giffin, 23, of Pioneer, Ohio, into another pickup driven by Kenneth R. Bachman, 67, of Butler.Giffin and Bachman were treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. Police said Butera faces a ticket for careless driving.Thursday — A would-be burglar tried to break into a garage in North River View Drive in Allegheny Township. The attempted burglary occurred between 5 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday.7:50 p.m. Sunday — Edward T. Davis, 19, of Harmony swerved his pickup to avoid a deer and crashed into an embankment on Little Creek Road in Lancaster Township. The truck traveled back across the road and hit two fence posts. Police said Davis faces a charge of driving too fast for conditions.
