Irene Herold Elliott
Irene Herold Elliott, 89, of Butler went to be with her loving Father at 5:24 p.m. Wednesday while she was a patient at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Dec. 26, 1918, in Long Beach, Calif., and was the daughter of Ralph and Emma Murdock Sackett.
She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church, where she had been a deaconess for two years.
Mrs. Elliott had worked for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, and she had worked at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
She formerly lived at the Cliffside Apartments, where she was a secretary for Cliffside and a Bible study teacher.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed crafts, crocheting, gardening and Bible studies.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. James (Veva) Martsolf, with whom she made her home in Franklin Township, and Mrs. Fred (Carol) Eury of Chicora; one son, Clarence Herold of Prospect; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Harry (Emajane) Waldroup of Karns City and Bonnie McEwen of Laurel, Md.; and three stepsons, Eugene Elliott of Hagerstown, Md., Richard Elliott and his wife, Eunice, of Chicopee, Mass., and Donald Elliott of Phoenix, Ariz. She also is survived by nine grandchildren, 18 step-grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a brother, Ralph Sackett of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Elliott, who passed away Dec. 28, 1991; one son; one granddaughter; one great-grandchild; and one sister.
<B>HOOVER</B> — Visitation for Irene Herold Elliott, who died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the <B>Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home</B>, 387 Main St., Prospect. The funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Stamp, her church pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt.
