John and Dave make a fine point about Ron Paul. Realistically, were Ron Paul to have continued in the Presidential bid, he very likely would have split the Republican vote, handing the White House to the Dems. If McCain ever wanted to appease those conservatives yet perturbed about the unconstitutional bipartisan fiasco with Feingold, (along with other rapscallion missives) he would do well to set his sights on Paul as a running mate. That'll be the day!

Dr. Adalja, also I question you: If there are no absolute truths (as you purport) then it is only by mans' authoritative conscious that reason differentiates between morality and immorality. Given the predominance of situational ethics within our society, what sense could your argument make when applied to a sociopath or a lobbyist for bestiality or pedophilia? If man can reason that such actions are moral, than we must conclude (upon the absence of absolute truth) that it is the collective perception of society that distinguishes "right" and "wrong." Changes the tides of collective thought, and the world is putty??? All religion aside, this in essence is your doctrine and it reflects more of a Machiavellian Mao, than a champion of human rights.
