Malarkey

Audene M. Malarkey, 84, of Parker passed away at 1:35 a.m. today at the Parker Personal Care Home following an illness.

Born Aug. 14, 1923, in West Monterey, Clarion County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Velma McCall Hogan. She was legally adopted by Don and Dorethea Hogan Matthews, with whom she lived during her teenage and young adult years.

She was a graduate of the former Parker High School and Franklin Business College.

Audene was employed, prior to her marriage, at the R.E.A. in Parker, now the Central Electric Co-Op.

She was a member of St. Mary Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Parker and the Altar Rosary Society. Audene had served as a religious education instructor for elementary school-age children in the parish.

Surviving are her husband, Louis A. Malarkey, whom she married April 25, 1945, at the St. Mary Parish in Parker; two sons, Dave Malarkey (Marietta) of Butler and Tom Malarkey (Lesley) of West Sunbury; two daughters, Faith Hepler (Bill) of Worthington and Christine DeLucca (Vince) of Slippery Rock; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one half sister, Bertha Jean Miles of Butler; one half brother, John Hogan of Adrian; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to parents and adopted parents, she was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Ann and Mary Malarkey.

AMass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Federline, former pastor of the church, officiating.
