Helen M. Hoover, 88, of Chicora died at 4:11 a.m. Friday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

She was a direct descendent of Capt. John McCollough and William S. and Hannah McCollough and daughter of Frederick Herbert "Herb" McCollough and Loretta Callihan McCollough.

Born April 8, 1920, she was a former resident of Milheim Drive, Butler, and R.D. 1, Chicora. Most recently, she lived at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot.

Mrs. Hoover's employment included the Butler County Agricultural Agency, and the former Jay Shoppe in Butler. She also managed her own sales consultants for Fashion Two Twenty Cosmetics in Butler.

She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Chicora. As a member of the Butler Memorial Hospital's Ladies Auxiliary, she volunteered as the jewelry buyer for the Cherry Tree Gift Shop. Her love of music was expressed as a member of the Pedal Pushers Club.

She is survived by her son, David Herbert "Herb" Frazer of Chicora; four daughters, Marjorie Sherwin Broderick and her husband, Tom, of Forest Hills, Mary Phaneuf and her husband, Richard, of Sarasota, Fla., Carol L. Frazer of Carnegie, and Susan Matthews and her husband, Terry, of Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean R. Dornon of the Passavant Retirement Village in Zelienople; one niece; one nephew; and one great- nephew.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles R. McCollough, and two grandchildren.

<B>HOOVER</B> — Friends and family of Helen M. Hoover, who died Friday, July 11, 2008, will be received 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>THE THOMPSON–MILLER FUNERAL HOME INC.</B>, 124 E. North St. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Hartman, chaplain at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillview Cemetery, Chicora.Memorials may be made to the fund Helen established: The F. H. McCollough and Helen M. McCollough Clinical Opthalmology Research Fund, UPMC Health System Department of Development, 200 Lothrop St., Pittsburgh, PA 15213-2582.
