Zabicki

Richard S. Zabicki, 73, of Chicora died Saturday from injuries he received in an automobile accident.

Born Aug. 4, 1934, in Butler, he was a son of Sophia (Siwecki) Zabicki and the late Stanley E. Zabicki.

He had worked as a machinist for Pullman Standard Car Co. for 18 years until the plant closed in 1981. Then he was a security guard for Trinity Industries for 15 years until he retired in 2002.

He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church and American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora. He was a lifelong private pilot who had built and flown his own planes. He also enjoyed gardening.

Mr. Zabicki was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia A. (Mahood) Zabicki, who he married Nov. 27, 1958; his mother of Butler; nephews Robert Zabicki of Clarion, Ronald Zabicki of Butler, Dave Zabicki of Chicora and Richard Zabicki of Slippery Rock; nieces Marsha Zabicki of Slippery Rock, Christine McGarrah of Butler and Torrie Lines of Madagascar; and a sister-in-law, Donna Young of Chicora. Numerous great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert B. Zabicki.

Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.The St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:40 a.m. Saturday at the church to recite the rosary.
