Pearl C. Grossman, 91, of Karns City passed away at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

Born Dec. 6, 1916, in Concord Township, she was the daughter of James Henderson Christie and Dora Adaline Bartley Christie.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Concord Presbyterian Church. She was active in the church having served as trustee, deacon and elder. She was a member of the Merry K Club, Missionary Society and a kindergarten Sunday school teacher for more than 50 years, touching the lives of three generations at the church.

She was a former chairwoman of the Red Cross and March of Dimes for Concord Township. She also was a member of the North Washington Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are a sister, Anna Daugherty of Butler, and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" Pershing Grossman, who died March 6, 1963. Three sisters and four brothers, one of whom was her twin, also preceded her in death.

<B>GROSSMAN</B> — Friends of Pearl C. Grossman, who died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Thursday at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Concord Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert Mathias officiating. Burial will be at the Concord Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the Concord Presbyterian Church.
