James E. Gregg, 93, formerly of Butler, died late Saturday at the home of his son near Martinsburg.

Born in Indiana, Pa., he was a son of Charles L. and Sarah J. McAninch Gregg.

He retired as a roll grinder at Armco-Butler Works in 1979 after 39 years.

Mr. Gregg was a member of the Thorn Creek United Methodist Church and the Butler Moose Lodge 64.

Surviving are two daughters, Betty-Ruth Weber of Burton, W.Va., and Suzanne J. Cunningham and her husband, Dan, of Jefferson Township; a son, James D. "Jamie" Gregg and his wife, Joyce, with whom he lived; six grandchildren, including J. Matthew Gregg of Roaring Spring; and nine great-grandchildren.

He married Rose E. Fleming on Nov. 23, 1939. She died May 17, 2004. He also was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael C. Gregg, who died Aug. 28, 2007; and four brothers, Darryl, Leland, Ronald and Arnold Gregg.

Gregg, who died Saturday, June 28, 2008, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at the Thorn Creek United Methodist Church, Butler, with the Rev.
