Kaercher

Marilyn A. Kaercher, 84, of Pine Township died Sunday evening at the LAS St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars.

Born in Blooming Prairie, Minn., March 26, 1924, she was the daughter of Konard and Signe Peterson Wold.

She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibsonia, where she was a past president of the church council. She was a past president of the St. John Specialty Care Center Board of Directors in Mars, where she served for more than 20 years. She was awarded the Trustee of the Year by the American Association of Homes for the Aged at the Florida Conference for her service at St. John's. In 1999, she received the Sister Edith Fischer Award at the Lutheran Founders' Foundation Ceremony. She also served on the board of Mars Housing at Penn-Mar Plaza in Mars.

A member of the Passavant/Richland Auxiliary, she had been a volunteer in the UPMC Passavant Hospital's Emergency Room for 20 years and was a hospice volunteer. She also was a member of the Toastmasters Club.

Surviving are her husband, Donald G. Kaercher, who she married Nov. 9, 1947; a daughter, Heidi Ott of Lake Worth, Fla.; two sons, Mark Kaercher of Palo Alto, Calif., and Todd Kaercher (Rebecca) of Gibsonia; and a son-in-law, Thomas Dorsch (Rita) of Mars. She was the loving grandmother of Justin, Kaylan, Kelsey, Jessica, Kaia, Leah, Gordon, Zach, Jillian and Grant. Also surviving are a brother, Alan Wold of Rochester, Minn.; and three sisters, Harriet Matchan, Sonya Salveson, and Lois Christenson, all in Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Dorsch, who died in 1990.

Kaercher, who died Sunday, June 22, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Route 910, Gibsonia. The Rev. Joel Benson will officiate.
