Phillip Carl Smith, 65, of Butler died 1:40 p.m. Wednesday at Sunnyview Home.

He was born July 23, 1942, in Butler, the son of the late Kenneth Lee Smith and the late Luella Stutz Smith.

He was retired from shearer department at Pullman Standard.

Surviving are a daughter, Betty Lou Smith of Butler; two sons, Phillip C. Eugene Smith Jr. and Jeffrey A. Smith, both of Butler; several grandchildren; one sister, Kay Reott and her husband, Donald, of Butler; four brothers, Kenneth Smith, Paul Smith, Ralph Smith and Joe Smith, all of Butler.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Della M. Wolford Smith, who died Nov. 21, 1984; and by one sister.
