Dear Joe, If you cannot understand my post, ask. You need not insult based upon assumption of what you think you understood therein. I'll put it very, very simply. The United States was founded upon Justice. The people who founded such were very familiar with religions. (The "s" making religion plural meaning "more than one") Just to clarify, if there is more than one religion we can assume that said religions differ and thus counted separately. So these men of different religions were convinced of a peaceable assembly of those religions. In other words, they believed that everybody could pray and get along. Your (Joe's) first "statement" of Washington was taken from the Treaty of Tripoli, not the mouth of Washington, is that direct enough? Thus, all of the authenticated historical documents of Washington kept in the Library of Congress does not concur (agree) with your claim. You accuse me of implying that one should believe what Washington said when it suits their argument, and negate his words when it does not. Poor Joe, just ask when you do not understand what I write. To dumb it down, I simply stated that people, mostly well educated scholars, very easily twist words around to imply what they want it to. What other words would be a better target than that of a dead man unable to expound thereon?! It is one thing to happen upon a "quotation" website, it is another thing entirely to research what is being said and why. The only hope anyone has at deciphering Washington's Faith or character is to learn of his life and actions in his life, and quite frankly it make me sick to my stomach when people just assume they know something: just as you did when reading my post. Study, study dear Joe, and form your own opinions rather than procuring another's. You might just find what I write it true.

To Dr. Adalja: To be honest, I only included the elevation remark to get under your skin. I rather enjoy debating with you. And although you and I have very, very different points of view, you seem to be one of the few people intelligent enough to have a debate with.
