Debbi Drake

Debbi Drake recently was named 2008 fair queen at the Big Butler Fair. Drake, 20, completed two years of study at Butler County Community College and is set to study computer science at Geneva College in the fall. She is the daughter of William and Donna Drake of Slippery Rock.The competition between nine young women included a written essay, interview and persuasive speech.Other awards included the fair princess crown, which went to

Krystle Foertsch, daughter of Bill and Mandi Foertsch of Jefferson Township.

The Rotary Club of Butler recently donated $1,000 to

Moms For A Good Change, a community group devoted to refurbishing the Christie Avenue Playground and other local parks. The gift will be put toward a net climber for the Christie Avenue site. The Rotary Club of Butler donated $355 to the

Fresh Air Fund for a Welcome to Butler pizza party.The Fresh Air Fund is an independent, nonprofit agency that pairs New York City youths with host families in small-town communities. Butler families host 30 to 40 families annually.
