Gibson 60th anniversary
Dale and Shirley Gibson of Prospect will celebrate 60 years of marriage with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Presbyterian Church of Prospect.
Gibson married the former Shirley Roxbury on March 13, 1948, at the parsonage of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Isle.
They have five children, Cathleen Johnson of Butler, Patric Gibson of Nottingham, Md.; Suzanne Twentier of Cranesville; Daniel Gibson of Glen Allen, Va.; and Todd Gibson of Prospect.
They also have 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Gibson is a retired carpenter who worked for the Butler Floor Co. for 45 years. He was a member of the Pittsburgh District Council of Carpenters for 61 years.
Mrs. Gibson was employed by the Slippery Rock School District and the Agway Seed Division in Prospect. She is a lifetime member and soloist at The Presbyterian Church of Prospect Chancel Choir. She is also a member of the Prospect Women's Club and the Twentieth Century Club and serves on the board of directors for the Prospect Community Library.
The Gibsons are members of The Presbyterian Church of Prospect. They were previous members of the Lads and Lassies Bowling League and the Ocala Shuffleboard Association. They currently belong to the Friday Night Couples' Golf League at Stoughton's Golf Course and the Snowbird Haven Club. They enjoy bowling, golfing and cruising.
