"Bird/astronomy" by Jesseca Ferguson is part of the exhibit "Alternative Focus" at the Silver Eye Center for Photography in Pittsburgh.

PITTSBURGH — "Alternative Focus" opens Friday in the Main Gallery at the Silver Eye Center for Photography, 1015 E. Carson St.

This exhibition features pinhole photographs by Jesseca Ferguson of Boston and Tom Persinger of Pittsburgh.

The pictures are dreamlike, multilayered arrangements where the lengthy process of creating each picture is as important as the final result.

Ferguson assembles her pinhole images with materials such as sheet music and book boards into photo-objects, while Persinger captures the outdoors with lengthy exposures that present a continuity of moments.

Opening Friday at Silver Eye in the New Works Gallery is artwork by Rita Bernstein of Philadelphia and Karen Kaighin of Pittsburgh.

These exhibits continue through June 14.

New gallery hours are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, noon to 8 p.m. Thursdays, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, or by appointment.
