Dick Road closed to traffic

CONNOQUENESSING TWP -- An adult and a child were both airlifted to Pittsburgh-area hospitals after their vehicle crashed into a tree along Dick Road in Connoquenessing Township on Monday night, Aug. 3.

The crash occurred shortly after 9 p.m. Monday night near the White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church.

According to Mike Nanna, chief of the Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Company, only one vehicle was involved in the crash.

“It's a single-vehicle accident into a tree with two occupants,” Nanna said. “Both are being airlifted downtown (to Pittsburgh).”

While Nanna could not elaborate on injuries, he stated that they were “...both trauma patients.”

He added the Pennsylvania State Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the accident.

Two ambulances from Butler Ambulance Service took the patients to medical helicopters waiting for them at the Butler Farm Show grounds. VA Butler Fire & Emergency Services also responded to the scene.

As of 9:45 p.m., Dick Road was closed to vehicle traffic as crews investigatd the accident.

“The road’s probably going to be closed for a couple of hours,” Nanna said at the time.
