Two sophomores at Butler Intermediate High School in Butler Township were selected to participate in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association All-State Chorus.
Laura Crytzer, an alto II, and
William "B.J." Hyatt Jr., a bass II, will attend the festival April 19 at the Hershey Theatre in Hershey.The students are members of the Butler Intermediate Mixed Ensemble.They previously attended PMEA Honors Chorus, District 5 Chorus, and Region I Chorus before qualifying for this event.———A special dinner honoring Golden Arches Awards given to three student artists was held March 17 at the McDonald's across fromPrime Outlets in Springfield Township, Mercer County.The artwork of the three is framed with a plaque engraved with the student's name, school district, and date, and showcases them within the restaurant's dining room. The artwork was chosen from the Very Special Arts exhibit sponsored annually by Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV, the education service agency for Butler, Lawrence, and Mercer Counties.The three honored students are
Ross Sobot of Knoch Middle School,
Destinee Schmitt of the Seneca Valley School District, and
Melissa Kosnacs of the Reynolds School District.———
Anna Chuba of Butler has been accepted to Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of Erik and Jennifer Chuba and attends Butler Area Senior High School.Notices of student awards, scholarships and other honors are printed each Sunday in the Butler Eagle.
