ADAMS TWP — Lollapalooza, a concert of rock, power pop and other contemporary music presented by various high school students and performers, will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at the Mars Middle School Commons.

Bands performing include The Shuttlecocks, Br'er Fox, Danora, The Triggers, The Blonde Girls and Kevin Chambers.

The concert will end at 10 p.m. Admission is $3 and will benefit the Mars Forensic Club.

BUTLER TWP — Dust off those dancing shoes and get in the swing with the Tornado Big Band.The band, along with the Butler Swing Choir, will host its fifth annual dance from 7 to 10 p.m. April 12 in the Butler Senior High School Cafeteria.Admission is free.The band is made up of students in grades seven through 12 under the direction of Butler Intermediate School music teacher Jeff Kroner. GIBSONIA — Two young ladies from Butler will compete this weekend in the semifinals of the 2008 Kean Idol Amateur Talent Contest at the Kean Theatre at Washington Place, 5847 Meridian Road.Lily Cogley, 12, and Celine Held, 17, will perform in the vocal semifinals at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
