I think this farmer is using immigration as an excuse. I find it very hard to believe he was paying $16.00/hr and couldn't find anybody to do it. He is switching to corn because it is cheaper to grow and because of the increased demand for corn to make ethanol. Corn is easier to grow too because it doesn't need as much water and with the increasing droughts, it is a less risky crop to grow.

Sorry, I don't buy this story..
