Gretchen Perschke of Butler was one of five students to receive the Rule, Hughes, Murphy Prize at Washington & Jefferson College recently.The award is given to sophomores in recognition of leadership, academic performance, citizenship and moral character. Recipients are nominated by college professors.At the college, Perschke is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, Kappa Alpha Theta, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the W&J Theatre Company.———
Katelin Green, daughter of John and Shirley Green of Butler, has been accepted to Gannon University for the fall semester.Asenior at Butler High School, she is active in track and the gymnastics club.———Two students from Butler County Vocational-Technical School spent Feb. 12 and 13 in Harrisburg at the PA Career and Technical Education Celebration Week event.
Danielle Heathcote, a senior at Slippery Rock, and
Kiley Bollman, a senior at Butler, presented a medical doll and spoke in the rotunda of the state Capitol. The students and their advisers also offered free blood pressure screenings.————The logo design of
Amanda Shreckengost, a junior at Butler County Vocational-Technical School and Karns City, won first place at the 2008 Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo and Conference in February. Her design will be used as the logo at the 2009 conference in Hershey.
