Hello,

My message is not about the stray cat issue or Tiger Ranch although I consider that as well as the price of gas important, but that I need some advice and am hoping one of the reading audience can help.

I'll try to sum this up:

1. Had a mortgage with a 9% interest rate a few years back.

2. Husband's little brother & wifey (before I was in the family) had a 2nd mortgage on our home as well as a charge card in my hubby's name.

3. Little brother declared bankruptcy but continued to make the payments he owed my husband.

4. We refinanced the house for a 5.75% interest rate and little brother decided to quit paying his payments and we were stuck. The attorneys couldn't go after him because he had filed bankruptcy. We could've been charged for harassment!

5. We had to file a Chapter 13 about 6 months later because the payments were out of sight with him not fulfilling his portion. A Chapter 13 repays the creditors, it does not discharge the debts.

6. After paying over $18,000 into the program (at $1500 a month) we thought we were on our way to getting things squared away.

7. Nature steps in and my husband has an aortic aneurysm and we lost him twice, he recovered and has had two surgeries since that one (since Oct. 2007).

8. The Chapter 13 fell behind and we are now faced with as the attorney called it 'walking away' from the house we call home and our vehicles as we don't know when or if my husband will be able to return to work.

9. I have filed for social security on behalf of my husband, but we all know the scenario there and how long it takes.

10. I work full time, but my income covers the utilities, food and child care. (we have one child we adopted who is special needs - which I have also just filed for SSI for him).

Anyone out there with a suggestion other than the attorney's of 'walking away'?
