Hiles

Charles L. Hiles, 82, of Bruin died early Tuesday morning at Clarion Hospital.

Born May 11, 1925, in Perry Township, Armstrong County, he was the son of James and Nellie Elizabeth Barger Hiles.

He was a member of the Martinsburg Presbyterian Church in Bruin.

Mr. Hiles was first employed at a Grove City area nursery after leaving the Marine Corps. He later was a truck driver for Soneborne and Matlock and Daniels Motor Freight, and he was an owner-operator at Dunmyre Motor Express until an accident in 1976. He then worked for McCalls Inc. Truck Driving, moving heavy equipment and picking up parts.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, achieved the rank of corporal and served in C Co., 1st Battalion, 3rd Division at Iwo Jima. He was a member of the Charles A. Black Post 7073 VFW of Parker and the American Legion Post 488 of Bradys Bend.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John (Nancy K.) Buzard of Rimersburg and Mrs. Robert (Helen) Vensel of Bruin; a son, Charles T. Hiles and wife, Doris, of Sarver; two brothers, James M. Jr. and Calvin D. Hiles, both of Karns City; a sister, Margaret R. McClaine of East Brady; seven grandsons; two granddaughters; eight great-grandsons; nine great- granddaughters, and a number of nieces and nephews.

His wife, Mary Katherine Uenking Hiles, died Dec, 11, 2001. He also was preceded in death by four sisters, Alice May Sebring, Laura Elizabeth Barger, Leila Kathryn Wyant and Frances G. Peters.

<B>HILES </B>— Friends of Charles L. Hiles, who died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home</B>, Parker. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Roger Whited and Pastor Mark Carpenter officiating.
