Geibel

Kenneth E. Geibel, 72, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died after a short illness Thursday at his home on St. Joe Road in Butler surrounded by his family.

Born Feb. 1, 1936, in Butler, he was a son of Frank and Viola Ritzert Geibel.

He had been a roller in the tandem mill at Butler Armco for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1996.

He was a member of the Butler Armco Employees Association and a very active member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center.

Mr. Geibel enjoyed gardening, woodworking, picture puzzles and playing slot machines and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Pirates and Steelers.

He was a life member of the East Butler Volunteer Fire Department and was affiliated with the East Butler Baseball Association. He was a former member of the Butler Quarterback Club and a member of AARP.

His wife, Norma J. Ferne Geibel, whom he married Nov. 24, 1956, survives. Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Kevin and Kathy Geibel of Cabot and Scott and Donna Geibel of East Butler; two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Dee Ann) Cottage and Mrs. Douglas (Marci) Cumberland, both of Butler; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Corrine) Skillman of East Butler and Mrs. Flo Bollinger of Butler; nine grandchildren, Patrick, Nathan, Nichole, Ryan and Megan Geibel, Brad and Emily Cottage and Aaron and Jennifer Cumberland; a great-grandson, Hunter Geibel; a sister-in-law, Loretta Geibel of East Butler; an aunt, Charlotte Fennell of Prospect; and numerous nieces and nephews.

An infant son, Kenneth J. Geibel, a brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

<B>GEIBEL</B> — Friends of Kenneth J. Geibel, who died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Carbon Center. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Butler County Unit of the American Cancer Society P.O.
