Maria Klutinoty, daughter of James and Laurinda Klutinoty of Butler Township, has received the CALIExcellence for the Future Award at the University of Akron School of Law.She received the award for earning the highest grade in a law course during the fall semester.Klutinoty is a 2007 graduate of Grove City College and a 2004 graduate of Butler High School.———
Sarah Yakima has been awarded the Alumni Scholarship at Clarion University.She is also a second-time recipient of the Gilbert Neimon Scholarship.The daughter of Edward and Susan Yakima of Portersville, she has maintained a 4.0 grade point average and has been named to the university's dean's list.———
John Tack recently received an appointment to the 2012 class of the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.A senior at Eisenhower High School, he is the son of Randy and Patty Tack of Sugar Grove and the grandson of Darla Tack of Butler, and the late John Tack and John and Barbara Green.At Eisenhower, Tack is a member of the varsity football and baseball teams. He is a musician and is involved in several charitable and academic organizations.Tack plans to study aeronautical engineering. Teresa DeBacco of West Sunbury received the Slippery Rock University Alumni Association Maree McKay/Esther Smiley Scholarship for Academic Achievement.A student in the dance department, she has been involved in several performances with the Slippery Rock University Dance Theater.Awriting and marketing major, DeBacco has been named to the dean's list every semester. She also is an Honors Program member and Honors Scholarship recipient. DeBacco also volunteers for the Slippery Rock University Performing Arts Series.———
Cailee Murray, a sixth grade student at Knoch Middle School in the South Butler School District, is the grand-prize winner of the Edgar Snyder & Associates Road Radio USA Quiz contest. Cailee won an iPod Nano after she and hundreds of other middle school students took an online quiz to test what they learned about underage drinking after a Road Radio school assembly.Road Radio USA is an assembly that combines music, lights and education to reach teens and preteens to prevent them from underage drinking and other destructive behaviors.Road Radio USA, presented in cooperation with Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, visited 20 schools in the Pittsburgh area this school year and will visit more in 2008-2009.The contest and assembly were sponsored by Edgar Snyder & Associates.
