Thank you Melissa for speaking up for all the unwed teen moms who did it right (like myself.)

While my friends were getting abortions because their moms thought having a baby means you can't go to college (note that they did get pregnant, they just got rid of the problem) I had my kid and finished school and went to college. My baby's father sort of stuck around. He didn't give me money, I worked, but eventually we got married five years later. I was never on welfare and the one time I needed it I was denied because I had too much income prior to needing it. What I am sick of is fathers who flee and grandparents who take over and raise these kids. If my kid has a kid, my kid is going to care for that kid and I am going to be a grandma, not a substitute mother. Let them even try to drop off their kid for a week or two because I will hunt them down and they will take care of the kid they brought into this world. This goes for my two sons and two daughters paid for by their parents' wages. Enough of the excuses. These parents are being enabled to act like this.
