Brady Amerson, 18, a senior at Butler High School, was recently selected a member of the Pennsylvania Music Educator's Association All-State Jazz Band to perform at the annual teacher's convention April 19 in Hershey.Amerson, who plays tenor saxophone, is one of 18 students statewide selected to participate.He is currently a member and a drum major in the Golden Tornado Marching Band. He also recently performed with the PMEA District 5 Jazz Band.Amerson also plays with the Tornado Big Band, the Slippery Rock University Jazz Ensemble II and the Pittsburgh Jazz Society Youth Jazz Band at Duquesne University.The son of Tim and Sheri Amerson of Center Township, he plans to attend Slippery Rock University in the fall.———
Jessica Kummer, a sophomore preveterinary medicine major at the University of Findlay, has been awarded the President's Scholarship and Florence F. Overmire Scholarship for the 2007-08 academic year.A 2006 graduate of Butler High School, she is the daughter of Kathleen and Randal Kummer of Renfrew.———
Ashley Roe of Zelienople has been accepted for admission to Saint Vincent College for the fall 2008 semester. She plans to major in biology and chemistry.The daughter of Douglas and Christine Roe, she is a senior at Seneca Valley High School.At school, she is a member of the Pom-Poms, Biology Club, Teens N' Tots, Spanish Club and musical productions.———The
Moniteau High School Academic Decathlon team won the Northwest Region Small School Championship and placed third overall in the competition.The competition was held Feb. 1 and 2 at the Collegiate Academy in Erie. The theme of the event was the Civil War.Members of the school's team included seniors
