The

Butler PM Rotary Club recently recognized six local organizations by donating funds to support their program needs.All donated funds came from money raised at the Rotary Club's annual charity golf tournament at Conley Resort Inn.Recipients were

Lifesteps, in support of its annual kids Christmas party; the

Butler YWCA, to purchase a new rug extractor for the YWCA building and residences; the

Butler Public Library, for the purchase of large-print books and the continued operation of the library's computer lab; the

St. Vincent DePaul Society, to assist in the purchase of a new delivery van; the

Butler Humane Society, for the ongoing care of animals; and the

Butler Emergency Relief Initiative, in support of its efforts to assist needy area residents on improving their budgeting and financial management skills.Members of the Butler Rotary Club also made a $1,000 donation to the Rotary Foundation in honor of the Pierre Grossclaude family for their 45-plus years of service to the Election Day pancake festival, which benefits Lifesteps.The family has organized and chaired Lifesteps, and prior to that, sponsored Easter Seals craft tables to raise additional funds for Lifesteps programs.In addition to the annual pancake festival and golf tournament, the PM Rotary Club conducts an annual turkey roundup to feed those in need at Christmastime, and the dictionary project, benefiting 3rd grade students throughout Butler County.———The

9th Treesdale Turkey Trot 5k Run

and one mile Fun Walk raised more than $10,000 Nov. 24 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Western Pennsylvania.More than 200 runners and walkers participated in the race, which began at the Treesdale Golf and Country Club in Adams Township and ran throughout the Treesdale area.More than 60 businesses were sponsors for the race.The top three male finishers were

Dominic Wyzomirski, 48, of Allison Park with a time of 18:17,

Douglas Basinski, 36, of Pittsburgh with a time of 18:24 and

Brian Forester, 37, of Cabot with a time of 18:46.The top three female finishers were

Edith Guevara, 27, of Pittsburgh with a time of 21:37,

Emily Reinhart, 15, of Gibsonia, with a time of 22:46 and

Sara Underwood, 22, of West Chester with a time of 23:28.A pancake breakfast followed the event with Jack Kimball, general manager of Treesdale, presenting awards to the top finishers in 10 age categories.It was sponsored by the Rich-Mar Rotary, Prudential Preferred Realty, and the Treesdale Golf and Country Club.———Winners at the
