Victor C. Serafine Sr.
Victor C. Serafine Sr., 79, of Chicora died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday at his home after an illness.
Born Dec. 1, 1927, in Kaylor, Armstrong County, he was the son of Ferdinand and Fabina Grazioli Serafine.
He had been a track foreman for the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad for 40 years and retired March 1, 1990.
Mr. Serafine was a member of the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church of Chicora and the Altar-Rosary Society of the church.
Surviving are a daughter, Valerie McElroy of West Sunbury; three sons, Victor C. Serafine of Karns City, Michael Serafine of California and Kevin Serafine of Lodi, Ohio; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He also is survived by five sisters, Ella Piccola of Butler, Mrs. Michael (Edna) Propochak of Silver Spring, Md., Mrs. DeWayne (Thelma) Courson of Emlenton, Virginia Morrow of Gibsonia and Mrs. Kenneth (Wilma) Texter of Karns City; a brother, Ferdinand Serafine of Emlenton; and several nieces and nephews.
His wife, Lillian E. Young Serafine, whom he married Feb. 20, 1948, died Dec. 27, 1974. He then married Betty R. Jack Milliken Serafine on June 19, 1976, and she died May 1. 2007. He also was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
<B>SERAFINE</B> — Friends of Victor C. Serafine Sr., who died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, 409 N. Main St., Chicora, with the Rev. David DeWitt, officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery, North Oakland.
