Robert A. Burger
Robert A. "Bob" Burger, 83, of Pine Township, Mercer County, died Tuesday at the Grove City Medical Center.
Born April 8, 1924, in Ligonier, he was the son of Adolph G. and Elizabeth Johannsen Burger.
He was married to Anita Jannuzi Burger for 38 years. Following her death, he married Kathryn Greig Burger in 1996 and moved to Grove City in 1997.
Mr. Burger was a graduate of Ligonier High School and attended Cornell University School of Hotel Administration.
He was a World War II veteran who served in the Pacific Theater from 1943 to1946.
He was involved in the hospitality field with food service companies and clubs for more than 40 years, including management of the West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills, The Engineers Club and the Swarthmore Vanderbilt Club, all in New York. He also was the manager of the Pittsburgh Golf Club and the Beaver Valley Country Club, Beaver Falls. He was president of Robert A Burger & Associates, a consulting firm.
He was past president of the NYC Cornell Society of New York and past treasurer of the Club Managers of New York.
He attended the Balm United Methodist Church, Blacktown.
Surviving are his wife, Kitty Greig Burger of Grove City; daughters, Sandy Hayes and her husband, Bill, of Grove City and Elizabeth of Delray Beach, Fla.; a son, Robert of New York; and a brother, Herb Burger and his wife, Jane, of Pittsburgh.
He also has three stepchildren, Scott Greig of Enon Valley, Kevin Greig of Beaver Falls and Dr. Tad Greig of Mercer; two step-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
<B>BURGER</B> — A memorial service for Robert A. "Bob" Burger, who died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Balm United Methodist Church, Blacktown, with the Rev. Richard Carlson officiating.Memorial contributions may be made to the Balm United Methodist Church, 1536 Butler Pike, Mercer, PA 16137; or to the Grove City Community Library, 125 W.
