Sammy Lee Bortz, 54, of Prospect, died unexpectedly of natural causes at his home Friday morning.

He was born on Sept 18, 1953, the son of Samuel W. and Dolly Ruth Staley Bortz.

He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Prospect and the American Legion Post 243 in West Sunbury.

He had been a grinder for Harmony Castings.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his mother of Prospect; a daughter, Starlighte Bortz of North Carolina; two grandchildren; a sister, Susan Joy Bortz of Prospect; and four brothers, Carl Bortz of Greely, Colo., William and John Bortz, both of Butler, Jay Bortz of Clewston, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his father.

<B>Bortz</B> — Visitation for Sammy Lee Bortz, who died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 on Monday at the <B>Jay Bryan Funeral Home</B>, 443 Main St., Prospect. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Brown of his church officiating.
