Rose E. Serafine

Rose E. Serafine, 85, of Courson Lane, Emlenton, Allegheny Township, died at 3:51 p.m. Tuesday shortly after her arrival in the emergency room at UPMC Northwest, Seneca.

Born May 16, 1922, in Edgemont, S.D., she was the daughter of William and Anna Lindberg Goettman.

She moved to Pennsylvania at age 15 and graduated from Clintonville High School.

Mrs. Serafine had been a sales clerk at Emco Mills in Emlenton for years and retired in 1974.

She enjoyed sewing and yard work and had a special relationship with her granddaughter, Theresa.

She was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Emlenton for more than 60 years, taught catechism for more than 20 years and also sang in the church choir.

Surviving are her husband Fred Serafine, who she married Oct. 14, 1950, at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Emlenton; a daughter, Wilda R. Chutz of Emlenton; a son, David W. Serafine of East Brady R.D.1; a granddaughter, Theresa D. Chutz of Allison Park; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie M. Bell, who died Jan. 6, 1994.

<B>SERAFINE</B> — Friends of Rose E. Serafine, who died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at <B>Hile Funeral Home Inc.</B>, 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Emlenton, with the Rev. Conrad Kraus officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael Cemetery, Emlenton.A parish prayer service will be held at 3:45 p.m. today at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to Emlenton Area Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 346, Emlenton, PA 16373; Spina Bifida Association of Western Pennsylvania, 134 Shenor Road, Bldg. 1, Wexford, PA 15090; or to The Caring Place, 103 N. 13th St., Franklin, PA 16323.
