Because of where I live I suppose I shouldn't make any comments about the SV teacher strike. So let me just say this:

My wife and I stopped for something to eat this afternoon and happened to meet up with a fellow that used to be our neighbor, actually our old neighbor's son. I know that he was a high school teacher and I asked if he was retired and he responded yes, eleven years now.

He said he retired when he had thirty years service. Let's see, if he started his teaching career at say, 24 or 25 he retired at 55. He couldn't collect Social Security until 62 so I guess he was financialy in good shape.

I have neighbors now that are teachers, two couples, all four are teachers. They are talking early retirement and give some indication of their pensions and benefits. Certainy not what I have. I don't have Volvos, Lexus and Dodge Durangos in my driveway either, but they do.
