Jackson Twp. Republican wins supervisor's seat
JACKSON TWP — The board of supervisors will have a new face in January as Republican Roy Huffman held off his Democratic challenger, Trent Geis.
In the primary, Huffman had defeated Geis for the Republican nomination by slightly more than 30 votes. Geis, however, had a write-in victory for the Democratic nomination, setting up a second race.
Current supervisor Bob Goetz had decided not to seek re-election, opening up the seat for a newcomer.
The unofficial total, with absentee ballots still to be counted, was Huffman at 581 and Geis at 286 for the six-year post.
Huffman thanked his challenger for running a clean and issue-oriented campaign. He also thanked those who voted for him.
Huffman said there are 1,400 homes in the township, and he wrote and tried to hand deliver personal messages to each one before the elections.
Now his job, said Huffman, will be working to deliver positive results.
