MARION TWP — Butler state police are searching for a couple accused of leaving their 1-year-old son alone in a camping trailer off Boyers Road.

George Washington Staley III, 39, and Katie Klein, 27, who have no known address, are facing charges of reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of children.

Police plan to obtain arrest warrants for the parents sometime today.

Mercer state police reportedly found the baby crying in the trailer at 641 Boyers Road Wednesday night at 9:50 p.m. after responding to an unrelated incident at the property, which includes another residence.

Police report the trailer had no running water or sewage, no food and no baby clothing, but did have an apparent fire hazard. An extension cord was reportedly running from a nearby mobile home to a space heater in the camper.

Butler County Children and Youth services took the child into custody.

No one showed for a CYS hearing regarding the child's welfare Thursday, leading to the charges and search.
