Butler County's great daily newspaper

Response to Lorie

Lorie, I agree with your post. I remember when Butler used to be a safe place to work , shop etc. Now because of all the drugs and drug addicts who are desparate to find funds to support their habit, Butler is an unsafe place. It seems to be a magnet for low life thugs. The leaders of Butler county need to address this issue. I am not sure what the long term answer is but we need to do something to run this rif raf out. I don't feel safe going into Butler without my hand gun anymore. I do have a carry permit and I would recommend that others do the same. I would suggest to take the appropriate courses in order to handle your weapon if you don't already know how, but by all means I think that everyone should carry some sort of self protection. It is that bad. God forbid if you ever have to use it, but I feel better safe than sorry.Maybe if more responsible people did carry a weapon this type of behavior would stop. Criminals are cowards and they leech off of others to support themselves. They look for easy targets. Everyone needs to be on guard at all times and prepared; Maybe then we can stop people from being victims. Police can't be everywhere so I feel a good starting point would be for the general population to take a look at their personal habits, find out where their may be a weakness and firm it up. It might be something as easy as having a security light installed , or keeping an eye on your neighbors especially if they are elderly, who knows , but I think we can't just sit back and become victims anymore, we all have to be prepared for anything. These low lifes, and drug addicts will stop at nothing. They will kill you for a dollar. Be prepared. don't depend on police to save you.Know your rights, and know the law in case you do get into a situation where you have no choice but to defend yourself.

Regards, John
