The Senior Young Americans of Saxonburg recently took first place at the 2007 World National Open Beginner Dance Twirl Championship at the University of Notre Dame. Members of the winning team are, front row from left, co-captains Elizabeth Bartley and Natalie Lohler; second row, from left, Shawna Durst, Elyssa Aull, Whitney Laidlaw and Lacey Roberts; standing, from left, Mallory Semler, Lauren Krchnak, Megan Affrica, Lauren Wick and Amber Grupp. The winning team was one of several groups to compete from Gwen's School of Champions in Saxonburg. Also competing were the Junior Large Young Americans, who placed fifth; the Junior Small Young Americans, who placed tenth; and the Senior Diamond Girls, who placed third for their hip hop routine. The combined groups also placed fourth in a halftime routine competition.
