Roberta Donaldson Callender, 89, of Kalamazoo, Mich., died Saturday evening at Tendercare of Westwood in Kalamazoo.

She was born Jan. 31, 1918, in Butler, one of six children to Samuel and Ethel Emerick Donaldson.

In 1965, she earned a degree from Western Michigan University in social work and was a Michigan state social worker until her retirement in the mid 1970s.

Surviving are her three children, Katherine Gifford of Lawton, Mich., Christine (Lester) Ritsema of Decatur, Mich., and Gerald Brandon of Minnesota; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
