James F. Mitchell

James F. Mitchell, 66, of Butler died at 4:15 p.m. Monday at Shelbourne Assisted Living.

Born June 23, 1941, in Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Benedict and Marjorie Custer Mitchell.

He retired from the Navy after 21 years and had served in Vietnam aboard the USS Jonas Ingram and the USS White Sands. He also worked with the bathyscaphe Trieste.

He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and was a volunteer at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was a lifelong member of the Disabled Veterans.

Surviving are his wife, Janice E. Mistick Mitchell, whom he married Dec. 6, 1969; three daughters, Mrs. Terry (Sheila) Davis of Douglas, Ga., Dani Mitchell of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Daniel (Kristina) Little of Columbus, Ohio; a son, Joseph Mitchell of West Sunbury; and seven grandchildren. He also is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Michael (Diane) Cahoon of Wisconsin and Mrs. Terry (Lila) Toler of Maryland.

<B>MITCHELL </B>— Friends of James F. Mitchell, who died Monday, June 25, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St. Services and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut, with military honors by the Moniteau Ceremonial Squad.Information also is available at www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
