Melanie Young of Zelienople, a student at Seneca Valley Middle School, was recently honored at a statewide awards ceremony for gifted children held by The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth.Young was invited to the awards ceremony based on her performance on college entrance exams.Additionally she was awarded a one-course scholarship at Geneva College in Beaver Falls.———

Sarah Ditch of Butler was recently inducted into the Alpha Theta Mu chapter of Mortar Board at Grove City College.Ditch received the award for her scholastic and leadership achievements.———

Jennifer McFarland of Butler, a 2007 graduate of Grove City College, was inducted into the Beta Mu circle of Omicron Delta Kappa.———

Stephen Pichler, a senior at Grove City College, was inducted into the Beta Mu circle of Omicron Delta Kappa.———

Susan Greer, a student at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, was recently inducted into the Lambda chapter of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity.She is the daughter of Kenneth and Sherri Greer of East Brady.———

Juliann Hughley, a 2007 graduate of Mars High School, has earned a Founder' Award to attend Mount Union College to study German education.During high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society, the German club and the Women's Ensemble.Hughley is the daughter of Chuck and Darlene Hughley.———

Amanda Byrnes, a student at Mercyhurst College, has been inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma freshman honor society.A 2006 Seneca Valley High School graduate, she is majoring in elementary and early childhood education.Byrnes is the daughter of Rich and Barb Byrnes of Cranberry Township.———

<B>Jessica Mondani</B>, daughter of David and Marsha Mondani, was recently presented her white coat from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.Coats are presented to students as they advance through their chosen medical program.Mondani, who is studying in the cardiac surgeon, is a member of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association, the International Medical Society, UAAO and the Phi Sigma Honorary.Mondani is a 2001 graduate of Knoch High School and a 2005 graduate of Washington and Jefferson College.An avid runner, she serves as a swim teacher at the Erie YMCA.———<B>Erin Barton</B>, was recently inducted into the Alpha Theta Mu chapter of Mortar Board at Grove City College.A Mars resident, she received the award for her scholastic and leadership achievements.———<B>Christopher Brennan</B> of Harmony was inducted into the Round Table society at Grove City College recently.
