Plenty of activities keep county hopping

Fairs, parades, shows and more!

Here are some of the events that are scheduled in Butler County this summer:

• June 2 — Harmony Art Show 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., sponsored by the Harmony Business Association and Historic Harmony Inc.; features artists, includes water color, acrylic, pen and ink artwork; at the Harmony Museum's Stewart Hall, 218 Mercer St., Harmony; call 724-452-7341

• June 3 — Fish for free day in Pennsylvania

• June 8 — Summer Car Cruises; 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; oldies DJ, 50/50 raffle; The Meridian Station Gift Shop and Post Office

• June 9 to 10 — Western Pennsylvania Fairie Festival 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday; Cooper's Lake in Slippery Rock; family entertainment celebrating the realm of the fairie; $10/ ages 10 to adult, $3/ ages 3 to 12 and free for 3 and under

• June 10 — Old-fashioned ice cream social 1 to 4 p.m.; help crank ice cream; ages 5-17; Cooper Cabin Pioneer Homestead, 199 Cooper Road, Cabot

• June 11-16 — Saxonburg Fireman's Carnival; open nightly 6 to 11 p.m., with matinees 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Saturday

• June 23 — Butler Road Race 9 a.m. downtown Butler; a 5 mile 2k run/walk sponsored by Butler Memorial Hospital

• June 28 to Aug. 23 —Harmony Summer Concert Series 7:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays on Mercer Street in Harmony

• June 29 to July 7 — Big Butler Fair on Route 422 in Franklin Township

• July 1 — 13th Annual Cruise-A-Palooza in Downtown Butler 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

• July 4 — Cranberry Township Community Day, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

• July 4 — Butler Memorial Park's Annual Freedom Celebration, 1 p.m. to dark; includes exhibits, food, activities and fireworks

• July 9 — Car Cruise, 6 to 9 p.m.; door prizes; raffle; King's Buffalo Plaza Route 356

• July 20 to 22 — Horse Trading Days 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; crafts, concerts, sidewalk sales and food; Main Street Zelienople and North Gate Plaza Route 19

• July 20 to 22 — East Brady Riverfest; at Graham Field; food and vendors;

• July 22 — Gene Wilhelm-Audubon Society, conversation about birds; 1 to 4 p.m.; a tribute to Beulah Fry; admission $3/adults and $1/ages 5 to17; Cooper Cabin Pioneer Homestead, 199 Cooper Road, Cabot

• July 29 — Cranberry Chamber's Thorn Hill 5k Race 8 a.m. at the Thorn Hill Industrial Park in front of Parks Moving & Storage; raises money for the chamber foundation for college scholarships

• Aug. 2 to 5 — Portersville Stream Show; crafts, food and exhibits

• Aug. 4 — The Regatta at Lake Arthur, 10 a.m. to dusk Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Event is free and will include sailboat races, canoe and kayak events, hot air balloon launches, children's activities, fishing, swimming, entertainment, crafts, food, and classic car show

• Aug. 6 to 11 — 59th Annual Butler Farm Show; farm-related activities including judging, exhibits and demonstrations, animals, arts and crafts, rides and farm products; admission is $7; on Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township

• Aug. 11 — Harmony Museum's Annual Antique Gun Show; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; show presents historic firearms spanning the Colonial era through the late 19th century; historic 1805 Mercer Road barn
