Megan Gibson, daughter of David and Paula Gibson of Mars, has been accepted to St. Mary's University for the August Session.A senior at Mars High School, she was recently awarded the 2007 Jeff Donner Memorial Scholarship.Gibson plans to major in International business.———

<B>Zachary Jones</B>, son of Matt and Laurie Jones of Butler, has been selected to participate in the Carnegie Mellon Institute for Talented Elementary and Secondary Students.A third-grade student at South Butler Primary School, he will participate in the Explorations in Science Program in July.———

<B>Alexander Goettler</B>, son of Bruce and Joyce Goettler, was recently inducted into the Gertrude Reed Chapter of the Butler High School National Honor Society.———

<B>Shannon Armstrong</B> of Zelienople was named a National Merit Scholarship winner. She plans to attend Case Western University and study aerospace engineering.Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winner from the National Merit scholarship finalists who plan to attend that school. The awards provide between $500 and $2,000 each of up to four years of school.Armstrong attends Seneca Valley High School.———

Eight Butler Catholic School students earned awards at the <B>Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science</B> on May 21 at Penn State University, University Park. Students with first awards were <B>Monica Caparosa</B>, <B>Alex Protivnak</B>, <B>Isaiah Sawhney</B> and <B>Sarah Scott</B>.Receiving second awards were <B>Joshua Denny</B>, <B>Melissa Nichol</B> and <B>Angela Nowacki</B>.Receiving a third award was <B>Aimee Monday</B>.Students prepared science experiments and earned first awards for presenting them at the regional competition at Slippery Rock University earlier this year to advance to the statewide competition.Their science teacher is Jayne Chobot.
