Abigail Oesterling of Portersville and

Sarah Snyder of Butler recently received Wal-Mart Associate Scholarship Awards.The $2,000 scholarship is awarded to seniors who work at Wal-Mart or are the children of store associates.Oesterling, who will graduate from Portersville Christian School, plans to attend Saints Bible Institute in San Lorenzo, Italy.Snyder, who will graduate from Butler Senior High, plans to attend Butler County Community College.———

<B>Annie Lowry</B>, daughter of Bob and Chris Lowry of Butler, was recently inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma honor society at James Madison University.She is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in business administration, management.———

<B>Benjamin Capella</B>, son of Terry Capella and Roberta Capella of Parker, has been accepted to the University of Northwestern Ohio for the August session. Astudent at Karns City High School, he plans to major in automotive high performance.———

<B>Melissa Hanson</B>, a senior at Lock Haven University, was named Senior Honors Student of the Year recently by the Lock Haven University Honors Program.Hanson was nominated by fellow honors program students.A secondary education English major, she is active in the program, serving as a freshman discussion group leader, a mixed discussion group leader and a co-leader of the Animal Lovers activity group. She also participates in the University Players organization.Hanson is the daughter of Harlan and Nancy Hanson of Sarver.———

<B>Jessica Cherry</B>, daughter of David and Tracy Cherry of Evans City, has been accepted to the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg for the fall 2007 session.Asenior at Mars High School, she is a member of the cheerleading squad, softball team and also the yearbook staff.Cherry plans to major in pre-veterinary medicine.———

<B>Darcee Davidson</B> of Mars and <B>Rachel Burkot</B> of Cranberry Township were among 31 students recently inducted in the Mortar Board honor society at Westminster College.Davidson is the daughter of David and Karen Davidson. Ajunior Spanish major, she is a graduate of Mars High School.Agraduate of Seneca Valley High School, Burkot is the daughter of Joseph and Mary Burkot. She is majoring in English.———

Benjamin McKnight was nominated for Leaders of Tomorrow, a group of achieving students who appeared in the Butler Eagle on Tuesday.
