Cody Klingler, a senior at Moniteau High School, is one of 16 students in the state chosen to participate in the inaugural Future Music Educators Honors Symposium this weekend in Hershey.Klingler was selected based on his high school record, dedication to his music ensembles, recommendations by teachers and administrators and his interest in studying music education in college.———

Torry Shepherd, a sophomore at Seneca Valley Intermediate High School, has been chosen to participate in the Moose International Youth Awareness Student Congress to be held in May in Gettysburg.Shepherd, who is active in student council, earned the opportunity based on a presentation she created and delivered to Connoquenessing Valley Elementary School students in February on teamwork and getting along with others.Students participating in the congress are eligible to receive scholarships of up to $7,000.———The following local students were honored during

Christian Bruggeman, a junior at Butler High School, has been accepted to the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Sciences.The scholarship program will be held June 24 through July 29 on the campus of Carnegie Mellon University———Butler School District students

Rachel Rebmann have qualified for national competition in Linguishtiks and Equations.Moorhead, is an eighth grade student at Butler Junior High School and Bruner is a sophomore at Butler Intermediate High School. Rebmann is in the fourth grade at Oakland Elementary School.———
Cassandra Pickett, daughter of Douglas and Ruthie Pickett of Evans City, has been accepted to Edinboro University for the fall, 2007 semester.Asenior at Seneca Valley High School, she participated in the all-school musical and is a member of the International Thespian Society.Pickett plans to study criminal justice and political science.———

Amelia Redding, 11, daughter of Kevin and Robin Redding of Cranberry Township, recently was awarded a certificate of excellence at the Music Festival: Federated Music Competition at Grove City College on March 24.The seventh grade student at Seneca Valley School District performed Minuet and Gavotte in D Major by J.S. Bach. She also earned a certificate of superiority in music theory knowledge.
