Olyn C. Sheakley
Olyn Christy Sheakley, 92, of Petrolia died at 8:10 p.m. Thursday at the Chicora Medical Center.
Born in Petrolia, May 5, 1914, he was one of five sons of John and Olive Sweeney Sheakley.
He was a member of the Petrolia Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Sheakley graduated from the Karns City High School in 1933 and served with the Army during World War II.
He was first employed at the Witco Corp. in Petrolia for five years and retired in October 1977 from Koppers in Petrolia after 37 years.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Rodney Lee Sheakley and Linda D. of Petrolia; two grandchildren, Matthew P. Sheakley and his wife, Lorri K. of Harrisville and Shannon S. Thorhauer and her husband, Greg C. of Karns City; and three great-grandchildren, Jesse P. Sheakley of Harrisville and Cole L. and Emily E. Thorhauer, both of Karns City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
His wife, Constance L. Messina Sheakley, whom he married March 15, 1946, in Petrolia, died June 22, 2000.
As the last member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Herbert, Lester, Marshall and Gale Sheakley.
<B>SHEAKLEY </B>— Friends of Olyn Christy Sheakley, who died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home</B>, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Wallace, pastor of the Chicora Alliance Church, officiating.Burial will follow at the Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.Memorial donations may be made to the Chicora Medical Center Memorial Fund, 160 Medical Center Road, Chicora, Pa., 16025.
